Salt air, ninety-percent humidity and eight months of strong UV are hard on hair, and most styling advice is written for climates that have none of those. Styling here assumes all three: structure that survives the walk to the car, and treatments that address what the coast actually does to the hair shaft.

Blowouts and everyday styling

A blowout that lasts in Florida is built on how the hair is dried, not on how much product goes in afterwards. Sectioning, tension and full cooling before the section is released do more for longevity than any spray.

  • Smooth, straight finish with movement at the ends
  • Soft waves — the most durable option in humidity, because texture hides swelling
  • Volume blowout for fine hair, built at the root rather than teased
  • Sleek finish for occasions with strong lighting

Event and bridal styling

Updos, half-up designs and dressed waves for weddings, galas and photography. Event styling is engineered around the pins you cannot see: a foundation that holds through hugging, dancing and an outdoor ceremony.

If you are booking hair alongside bridal makeup, the trial covers both in one 150-minute appointment and the wedding-morning schedule alternates the two so the party moves continuously.

Gloss, toner and bond treatments

Gloss adds shine and can gently adjust tone; it is the treatment for hair that looks dull rather than wrong-coloured. Toner corrects unwanted brass or yellow after lightening. Bond builders repair internal disulphide bonds broken by chemical services and sun exposure.

The three are constantly confused with one another, and picking the wrong one wastes an appointment — this guide explains which is which.

Coastal hair, realistically

Chlorine and salt water both raise the cuticle; UV degrades keratin and accelerates colour fade; humidity forces water into the shaft and swells it, which is what frizz actually is.

  • Rinse with fresh water before swimming — saturated hair absorbs far less salt or chlorine
  • A leave-in with UV filters on beach days, reapplied after the water
  • Anti-humidity products work by sealing, not by drying; alcohol-heavy sprays make frizz worse over a week
  • A bond treatment every six to eight weeks if you colour and swim regularly
